Transport Push-Pull Mobility Between Urban Districts: A Distance-Weighted Approach Based on Public Bicycle Flows

With the rapid development of urban transportation systems and the increasing complexity of travel patterns, transport push-pull mobility analysis helps us understand the fundamental question of "why certain areas generate or attract traffic flows," thereby guiding urban transport planning decisions. However, existing studies have not explored the strength and spatial heterogeneity patterns of transport mobility forces in different urban areas from a traffic flow perspective. To address this gap, this paper proposes measurement methods for absolute and relative transport mobility through the lens of push-pull forces. These methods can evaluate the traffic generation and attraction forces of each location based on travel flow data between places. Electrifying the Giants: Green mobility solution for M&HCVs in India.

Diesel operated Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicles (M&HCV) account for nearly 70% of all road transportation in India which is expected to quadruple, from 4 million in 2022 to roughly 17 million trucks by 2050. Despite comprising a mere 5% of total vehicle fleet, they consume nearly 57% of fossil fuel used by the transport sector and responsible for 71% ,74% and 55% of CO2 ,PM and NOx emissions respectively. This necessities the transition of M&HCV into green mobility solution. Furthermore, smaller vehicles like 2W, 3W, 4 wheeler like cars and buses are adopting EV technology at a faster pace coupled with incentivization through government policies like FAME-I, FAME-II etc., advocates an immediate intervention on electrification of M&HCVs to multifold the impact. Feasibility Analysis of Biogas-Based Charging Station using MATLAB Simulation

Electric vehicles' rapid adoption demands a vast quantity of energy. Alternative energy sources are being highlighted as a result of the finite supply of order of fossil resources to create the long-term power supply industry with eco-friendly products. It has immense prospects for energy sources such as biogas and biomass. A 20 kW biogas-powered electric vehicle charging station (EVCS) with a maximum energy requirement of 100 kWh is shown in this study. This work uses the MATLAB Simulink to design a biogas-based EVCS. On a daily basis, the suggested charging point can recharge 15-20 electric vehicles. The proposed approach is more energy-efficient than grid electricity. Furthermore, when compared to charging stations with power systems, The planned charging station produces 58.75% less CO2. Comparing eVTOL Aircraft Configurations for Varying Payloads and Range

The question of finding an optimal electric Vertical Take off and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft configuration for different payloads and ranges is non-trivial from an academic and industry perspective for the emerging Urban Air Mobility (UAM) market. In this paper, different eVTOL configurations (Lift+cruise, tilt-rotor, tilt-wing) are sized for varying payloads (300-700kg) and ranges (50-150km). The different concepts are then compared through parameters such as energy consumption, noise, cost of the aircraft and cost per seat-km, in the context of Indian market. Although some studies have compared different configurations, the sizing of the aircraft is typically not performed rigorously. In this paper, we aim to arrive at more optimally sized aircrafts based on the mission requirements by following a common design algorithm. The Budget Airline Car is an EV alt-shuttle seating six adults, with luggage storage in each door. Short-haul airline flights can be a great convenience for travelers, but they produce more CO2 emissions - about 250 g/km per person - than any other form of passenger transportation, including compact EVs and electric trains. That's about 25% more emissions than long-haul flights, because short-hop flying uses proportionately more fuel at takeoff and landing. Could an automotive alternative offer a solution? That is what Car Design Research (CDR), a U.K.-based consultancy, set out to investigate, working with design associates Yichen Shu in China and Aditya Jangid in India. The resulting concept is the Budget Airline Car, one of six new passenger-vehicle types that CDR director Sam Livingston and his team feel would be enabled by new mobility technologies.

Micro-mobility devices, such as E-scooters and E-bikes, have become a prominent mode of transportation in urban environments. Even in a single location, a variety of suppliers, each with a different design, may be available for use. When new, the safety performance of the devices should be consistent for a given make, however, over time, braking performance may diminish. Acceleration characteristics may vary between suppliers, and could diminish over the life of the device, or possibly be dependent on the current state of charge of the device. Motion Estimation of Connected and Automated Vehicles under Communication Delay and Packet Loss of V2X Communications

However, vehicular communication technologies such as Dedicated Short-Range Communications (DSRC) or Cellular-Based Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X) communications unavoidably introduce issues like communication delay and packet loss, which will downgrade the performances of any CAV applications. In this study, we propose a consensus-based motion estimation methodology to estimate the vehicle motion when the vehicular communication environment is not ideal. Pyrofuse Modeling for eVTOL Aircraft DC Protection

Driven by recent developments in the automotive industry, hybrid Pyrofuse protection devices have emerged as one such new candidate technology. Pyrofuses offer rapid clearance of fault currents, reduced cost and weight when compared to conventional mechanical breakers. In addition, Pyrofuses have the ability to tune the time-current curve to fit the application’s fault response characteristics. However, Pyrofuses are non-resettable devices whose exclusive use for electrical protection could present potential operational hazards and certification challenges in aerospace applications. Ultrasonics to Keep Lidar Clean

Mobility engineers often note that autonomous vehicles are only as good as their sensors and the algorithms within. But the reliability and driving precision of an AV involves an equally important factor: the cleanliness of the sensor head, particularly that of lidar. To understand what a lidar must endure, ride a motorcycle. A summertime tour on a road bike, or off-road on the trail coats the rider with dust, dirt, water and bug splatter. Since COVID-19's arrival, I've spoken with many engineers and a few industry leaders about the challenges they'll face in the post-pandemic world. One ongoing hurdle they agree on is the capital crunch facing their companies and how it is affecting funding for the enormous R&D demands of vehicle autonomy and vehicle electrification. This vital topic was covered in “Rebuilding the Automotive Sector's Capital Base,” one of the Center for Automotive Research's 2020 Management Briefing Seminars online sessions.
