This document specifies performance and quality requirements for the qualification and manufacture of 24 degree cone fittings to ensure reliable performance in aircraft hydraulic systems. This document specifies baseline criteria for the design and manufacture of system fittings that are qualification tested on engines. This document covers fittings of temperature types and pressure classes specified in MA2001.
G-3, Aerospace Couplings, Fittings, Hose, Tubing Assemblies
This SAE Aerospae Recommended Practice (ARP) covers visible surface defects on aerospace hose assemblies which have been installed and are functioning within a working environment at the time of visual inspection. This document is intended to help those who are conducting periodic visual inspections of hose assemblies used in aerospace systems and ground servicing equipment to determine time for replacement by condition of hose assemblies at time of inspection. This practice is intended to augment existing procedures for replacement of hose assemblies based on service time. A constant surveillance of all hose assemblies for visible wear, defects, and/or damage shall be routine at all times of maintenance. When wear, defects, or damage to installed hose assemblies is detected, the hose assemblies shall be tagged or replaced in accordace with Section 4 of this document.

Male pipe threads, including male dryseal pipe threads, when made into assemblies or installed into ports, will generally leak if not covered with a sealant. This SAE Recommended Practice is intended as a guide to assist designers and/or users in the selection and application of various types of thread sealants. The designers and users must make a systematic review of each type and application and then select the sealant to fulfill the requirements of the application. The following are general guidelines and are not necessarily a complete list.

Qualified Hoses for Marine ApplicationsJ1942/1_202012 (Historical)12/22/2020
The following list consists of hose data provided as of December, 2019, and is for convenience in determining acceptability of nonmetallic flexible hose assemblies intended for usage under 46 CFR 56.60-25. Where the maximum allowable working pressure (MAWP) or type of fitting is not specified, use the manufacturer's recommended MAWP or type of fitting. This list has been compiled by SAE staff from information provided by the manufacturers whose product listings appear in this document. Manufacturers wishing to list their products in this document shall: a Successfully test their hose to the requirements of SAE J1942, Table 1. b Submit a letter of certification to the SAE J1942 test requirements for each specific type of hose tested (see sample table, Table 1) along with the test results. All sizes should be included in the same letter which must also include all of the information necessary to make a SAE J1942-1 listing. c The SAE will review the letter and may, at their discretion, request to see further test results. A copy of the submittal letter marked “Accepted for Listing” will be returned to the applicant upon approval. d The cutoff date for inclusion of a hose listing in the annual SAE Handbook is September 30 of the preceding year. However, listed hoses may be used on vessels as soon as the “Accepted for Listing” letter is issued by the SAE.

The scope of this SAE Aerospace Information Report (AIR) is to define recommended methods of determining the optimal dimensional relationship of components coupled together using thrust wires for applications such as coupling nuts and fittings. These design parameters are intended to optimize component loading characteristics and maximize wire shear capabilities for both high and low pressure applications.

This Aerospace Information Report (AIR) establishes flexure test procedures to determine and classify the fatigue strengths of reconnectable or permanent hydraulic tube joints. The procedure is intended for conducting flexure tests of fittings and joints for hydraulic tubing materials such as AMS 5561 steel, AMS 4944 titanium and MIL-T-7081 aluminum alloy, mounted as free-free resonant beams. Of particular advantage are the inherent simplicity of test setup, minimum restraint from a test fixture, low power requirements, short test duration, and ease of varying stress level.
G-3, Aerospace Couplings, Fittings, Hose, Tubing Assemblies
This SAE Aerospace Information Report (AIR) presents flexure fatigue strength of tube fitting joints in the form of graphs showing applied deflection D and total calculated axial stress S versus number of cycles to failure N. The graphs have been prepared from data obtained by actual testing conducted in accordance with ARP1185.
