Boeing has relied upon the 767 ASAT (ASAT1) since 1983 to fasten the chords, stiffeners and rib posts to the web of the four 767 wing spars. The machine was originally commissioned with a Terra five axis CNC control. The Terra company went out of business and the controls were replaced with a custom DOS application in 1990. These are now hard to support so Boeing solicited proposals. Electroimpact proposed to retrofit with a Fanuc 31I CNC, and in addition, to replace all associated sensors, cables and feedback systems. This work is now complete on two of the four machines. Both left front and right front are in production with the new CNC control.

Refurbishing Passenger Carriages in the Bulgarian State Railways2001-01-329410/01/2001
The paper presents the problem of refurbishing passenger carriages for the needs of BDZ as a way to increase the speed, reliability, comfort and the quality of the services in the Bulgarian railways. That is an appropriate solution under the conditions of economic crisis in the country. The carriages produced in Bulgaria have turned to be unsuitable for refurbishing so a number of used carriages have been imported from Germany and Austria. Refurbishing has been done at the Plant for Carriages in Drianovo according to the European standards and environmental requirements. The problem examined in the paper is of great importance for the quality of the mass passenger transport in Bulgaria and its improvement as a requirement for Bulgaria's integration to the European Union structures.

Manufacturing The Tektite Habitat70075302/01/1970
Tektite was manufactured by the General Electric Company in conjunction with the Office of Naval Research, Department of Interior, NASA, and other government, industry and academic organizations. It was manufactured to house four marine scientists for a 60-day period on the ocean floor at a 50 foot depth at an isolated site in the Virgin Islands. The habitat and associated surface equipment provided for life support, environmental control, communications, surface monitoring, safety and comfort of the four aquanauts. The Tektite I experiment was completed safely within minutes of the time scheduled many months previously. The habitat was returned to General Electric in Philadelphia where it was refurbished for the Tektite II mission. This mission is currently in progress in the Virgin Islands and is due to be complete in early November 1970.

The ability of a commercial truck operator to achieve a satisfactorily low cost per tire mile can depend in large part on the effectiveness of his retread program. An understanding of the factors affecting retreadability is a prerequisite to the establishment of such a program. A truck tire carcass has a certain amount of service built into it. The number of retreads that are both possible and practical depends in large part on the type and length of service during the original tread life, as well as the type of tire. A good record system is essential.
