- The Ministry of Rural Development has issued a rule requiring companies manufacturing and placing batteries and accumulators on the market to comply with revised take-back, collection, and treatment obligations, in particular with regard to accumulators subject to the environmental product charge. For such accumulators, manufacturers cannot transfer their obligations to a compliance scheme, but can comply either individually, collectively by joining the National Waste Management Authority, or by paying the environmental product charge. The rule is effective Jan. 1, 2013.
