- Modern vehicle complexity which is reflected in terms of number of ECUs carrying millions of lines of code in order to achieve the modern autonomous/driver assistance and connected vehicle functionalities requires an obligatory task of providing and managing the software efficiently throughout the lifecycle of the vehicle from OEMs. The OEMs performs the functions of ensuring improved performance as well as rectifying faulty software/firmware that may prove detrimental with respect to safety and security of vehicles. The software updations involves service center and manual efforts to update the various ECUs using dedicated tools, which involves huge cost and time overheads, and also carry customer dis-satisfaction. The proposed system involves the software updations over a remote vehicular communication platforms for the connected vehicles, which is unbiased of mentioned overheads. The vehicular communication based software update includes secure transfer along with installation and verification on the specified ECU among the heterogeneous ECU network. The proposed approach involves the traditional manual update for few sets of vehicles, which is followed by vehicular communication based updates for the remaining set of vehicles for the replica of the software update installed.
