In today’s New Product Development Process, testing and evaluation is a big challenge due to the various factors such as scattered usage pattern, increasing quality and cost conscious buyers and pressure to adhere and squeeze timelines. These necessitate having a comprehensive test program in the laboratory. In Tractor testing, the track and field tests are two most time consuming activities and there is a need to broadly substitute the same with laboratory testing. Conventionally, a Four-poster, which is a full vehicle simulation system, is a widely accepted Laboratory test facility in major automobile industries, for in-house simulation of field and track loads. However, due to involvement of advanced technology, cost of the test system is high. Alternatively, a three-poster test system is a viable customised solution for evaluating tractor in the laboratory with considerable cost advantage. In this paper, an effort is made to explain the concept of this three-poster test system and difficulties encountered during its establishment.
