Authors Abstract
Content
Due to the increased requirements to the thermal management in PHEV and BEV, the request for an electronic control has led to a large variety of electronically controlled Expansion valves. The spectrum concludes variation on the actuator such as Stepper motors, DC- and BLDC motors, but also variation on the valve type, such as needle-, ball- and Slider Valves, and -finally- the basic structure of the valve, which orientates on the refrigerant and the respective pressure levels such as R1234yf on the lower side and R744 on the higher side. In this paper, the different concepts are shown and ranked regarding technical and economical aspects. Therefore, a recommendation for the respective applications is included.
