- This review covers some of the major advances pertaining to reducing tailpipe emissions of greenhouse gases and criteria pollutants. Discussed are both new and upcoming regulations, and technological advances for improving engines and after-treatment systems. We will also cover related aspects of alternative fuels, including electrification and renewable fuels. Both light- and heavy-duty vehicles are in scope. We cover the latest criteria pollutant tightening in Europe (Euro 7/VII) and the US - advanced clean cars 2.0 for light-duty and ultra-low NOx regulations for heavy-duty vehicles in California. We also cover the implications of the proposed revisions to the CO2 targets along with the electrification targets in these markets. We will highlight the major improvements in engine efficiency, after-treatment systems and also individual technologies (filters, SCR, TWC, etc.) to meet these regulations.
