As world is going towards the electric vehicle, India is also making its move in EV/HEV market, but biggest concern about EV is its range and lack of infra-structure. This study is about the system which establishing a model for HEV propulsion system. In this work the principle goal is to increase range of HEV by studying vehicle dynamics using MATLAB and SIMULINK. Effects of various resistive forces like rolling resistance, drag force, tractive force etc and regenerative braking, battery performance are studied for a specific drive cycle that has been assumed. Car model consists of DC brush motor, Lithium-ion battery with regenerative technology, car model weighs 4100 lbs, front area as 2.7m^2. Authors created various subsystems in Simulink. Proportional Integrate PID is implemented to follow drive cycle and the effect of resistive forces on vehicle which again consider for optimization to get maximum efficiency. Presented article tried to achieve vehicle range of 300 km in one full charge. Finally, all the values calculated in various subsystems are then integrated in final vehicle model to analyse the output parameters.
