Mobile Data Acquisition and Analysis Laboratory

A mobile data acquisition and analysis laboratory has been developed and placed in operation by the Agricultural Equipment Group of the International Harvester Company. The laboratory, based in a self-contained motor home, includes radio telemetry and FM tape storage for acquiring and archiving data and a mini computer system for performing preliminary and detailed analysis of the data while in the field. The system has been used on long-term tractor performance studies where only preliminary field analysis is needed. It has also been used on detailed fatigue life analysis of prototype parts. Experience from 18 months of operation has proven the concept of the mobile laboratory, and the performance of which has exceeded initial expectations.
