Authors Abstract
Content
This work proposes the application of the mean-value exergy-based internal combustion engine model, recently developed by the authors, for the quantification of the exergy transfer and destruction phenomena over different driving conditions. A thorough sensitivity analysis with respect to different driving cycles, environmental temperatures, and exhaust gas recirculation rates is performed. This allows to assess how driving conditions and environment affect the exergetic behavior of the engine, providing insights on the availability transfer and destruction phenomena and, ultimately, inefficiency.
