Authors Abstract
Content
A major challenge in jet aircraft is reliability and costs associated with continuous fire detection systems on jet aircraft. Systems are not foolproof, and are set off by overheating as well as by fire. False alarms which, for safety's sake, must be treated as reality, represent unnecessary delays and increases in maintenance costs.
A solution is not derived, but evaluation of the merits of separating, physically and electrically, thermal detection from fire detection is suggested.
