Authors Abstract
Content
Ball bearing impact tests were performed to evaluate impact resistance of laminates with different decoration configurations. Test results showed that laminates made with enamel decorative frit only on Surface 4, significantly outperformed laminates that had enamel on Surface 2. Furthermore, it was found that hybrid laminates, consisting of a standard annealed outer-ply and a thin, chemically strengthened inner-ply with a specially formulated decorative frit which is compatible with the ion-exchange chemical strengthening process, resulted in impact resistance levels that were three times greater than conventional laminates.
