The automotive electronics industry is facing an incredible challenge in term of growth, functionnality and increasingly severe environment.
The Quality is a “must” at consumer level. It will be obtained through design choices such as integration in VLSI (thus decreasing the number of components), evolution of design approaches (C.A.D.) permitting more simulation and by some specific quality approach.
These specific points of quality approach are based on common sense which is the nature of the quality methods (all are based on an information/data collection and lead to optimized action). In design, on top of a good customer-needs identification, the automotive electronics supplier will make validations and qualifications based on a comparative approach on all prototype steps. In manufacturing, the results of the unavoidable 100 % testing is to be used as a key feedback factor for internal improvement but also for supplier feedback.
