Authors Abstract
Content
The lack of aircraft fastener object standardization in CATIA has forced many aircraft OEMs and suppliers to custom build and maintain their own fastener definition methods. Content, state and consistency of those Fastener Definitions make a huge difference to subsequent processes, especially in an extended enterprise environment, which becomes more and more common in aircraft manufacturing (e.g. 787).
Cenit has been developing an application, which is fully integrated in CATIA/DELMIA V5. It provides design and manufacturing engineers with V5 standard fastener objects and an intuitive workbench to add into a V5 assembly.
This paper discusses an industry based end-to-end solution for fastener definition, assembly planning and offline programming contained within a single user interface, which maintains full data associativity in a PLM environment.
