- BAJA SAE ATV consist of single driver Monocoque roll cage usually with rear- engine, which supposed to bear all the off-road dynamic load & protect the driver under all the catastrophic crashes designed considering various safety rules instructed by SAE which would be checked in technical inspection before completions, Research involves a physical Crash test study of BAJA SAE roll cage and then compare its result with performed dynamic explicit analysis using Radioss as solver on finite element model of same roll cage, set up a relation between virtual and real crash; further enhancing the roll cage design using the crash result to make the driver safer. As per the result a great displacement similarity has seen observed in physical and virtual crash environment, various design changes, and extra members have been added to the roll cage to protect the driver from engine intrusion from the back. The physical crash was automated using few sensors and frugal innovation or jugaad, accelerometer sensors are also set up at multiple points to capture max acceleration during the crash to compare it with Impulse momentum equation, stepwise analysis has been suggested using flow diagram to help the readers if looking for same.
