- The purpose of the On-Board Inert Gas Generation System (OBIGGS) is to reduce the amount of oxygen in the fuel tank to a ‘safe’ level to significantly reduce the possibility of ignition of fuel vapors. There are circumstances where equipment’s like Air Separation Modules (ASM) etc. gets degraded earlier then the provided Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF). A connected solution for the IGGS is the technology to access real time data (Systems Line Replaceable Unit Performance data and Custom data Parameters) from the Systems controller data bus. This data further applied to compare why performance of the ASMs in some systems may degrade quicker than others. This paper studies the present conventional systems limitations in which like faults and limited shop data is being recorded. Due to memory constraints there is no provision to store/report the stream of data margins with which we pass/fail the certain efficiency tests. This paper also explains how a new design of Connected concept achieves the access to real time data from the system and pushed to cloud network, further Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI / ML) methods applied for predictive / prognostics features to inform of when certain ASMs may need to be inspected/tested/replaced. Voice of Customer (VOCs) related to ASMs degradation, Fuel Quantity Indication System (FQIS) field issues, sensors and other equipment's data parameters can be monitored over time that would be of value and an interest in more details on both the Honeywell and Customer side.
