In an automobile industry, there is a need of selecting the proper engine parameters which can help in the prediction of fuel economy for heavy duty commercial vehicles. In this project various methods have been applied for predicting the fuel economy of heavy-duty commercial vehicles which includes tractor-trailers and trucks by applying linear as well as non-linear regression techniques. Although various fuel consumption models are commonly discussed in the literature, their correlation with real world data is limited or doesn't fit well with the available data. The actual fuel consumption (in litres) and the predicted values from the model has a lot of difference and higher error%. This project focuses on minimizing the error between actual and predicted fuel economy. For doing that, regression model is created in Minitab software and validated in MATLAB and the obtained results are compared and analyzed.
