A Custom High Performance Sound System for OEM Cars

The rapidly accelerating demand for high performance sound systems has led to an increase in industry cooperation and a surge of advanced system development at the OEM level. One result of this resource sharing is the 1986 introduction of the Ford-JBL Audio System, co-developed by the Ford Motor Company Electrical and Electronics Division and JBL Incorporated. This paper describes some performance objectives, technical challenges, and key system characteristics.
