When a motor vehicle drives over snow, snow usually accumulates at different locations on the motor vehicle. Depending on the driving situation, especially on the driving speed, the snow can accumulate at different locations on the vehicle. In the development of motor vehicles, information on the position of snow deposition is of great interest in order to protect sensitive components such as sensors, joints, etc. from excessive snow accumulation. In this paper, a 3D CFD method is presented to simulate snow accumulation in the early stage of vehicle development project. Here, different driving speeds are investigated and the simulation results are validated with experiments. As an example, the results are validated and discussed in this publication using the wheel house.
