With the introduction of the 7th edition of the PMI Project Management Guide the focus has shifted more toward project outcomes than to deliverables which were outlined in the 10 Bodies of Knowledge present in the 6th Edition. Rather than prescribing particular techniques and methods the 7th edition allows for the application of many of the newer existing frameworks and methodologies that project managers and engineers can use to guide their projects. In line with this approach the 7th edition also discusses how to effectively tailor project management to your unique industry and customer..
\nThis course will present how Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) is incorporated into project management framework. Both formal PM and APQP are critical techniques used in product development in the mobility industry today. This seminar will bring these techniques together in an easy to understand format that goes beyond the typical concept of constructing timelines and task assignments. The course will explore not only the Automotive APQP process, but also key aspects of PM processes with discussion of both the 10 Bodies of Knowledge of the 6th edition and the project outcome approach of the 7th edition.
\nStudents will immediately apply learned skills by taking a sample project through all phases of the Project Plan using industry-based documents. Realistic issues, problems and time constraints are introduced throughout the exercise to stimulate actual project environment. Each exercise uses documents specific to the Mobility Industry such as various product development models, Statement of Requirements, Statement of Work, Work Breakdown Structure, timeline development and crash response, resource management, meeting effectiveness, and conflict resolution strategies. Major milestones of typical OEM APQP processes, to include PPAP, are also discussed. The exercise format is structured so that students must operate in teams and the time constraints allow students to see firsthand the effects of improper delegation of work assignments.
\n***Attendee must bring laptop for this course.***
\nAttendees will receive a copy of \"PMBOK ® \" Project Management Body of Knowledge by the Project Management Institute (PMI) and the book Project Management for Mobility Engineers: Principles and Case Studies by Angelo Mago.
