The aviation industry, along with local and international air traffic, is expected to grow in the long term. This continues to increase demand for aviation fuel despite the high crude oil price.
Aircraft turbine engines are known to emit nonvolatile soot particles with diameters larger than 10 nm during takeoff and also at cruise speed. In addition, volatile ultrafine particles of diameter less than 10 nm that are formed by the condensation of gas phase species have also been observed downstream of the exhaust plume.
